PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION

In our educational institutions, we aim at promoting the growth of the integrated personality of the student by imparting a sound moral, intellectual, aesthetic, and physical education, enabling him/her to face the challenges of the modern world with confidence and responsibility.

Spiritual

To educate and form persons who can become temples of God—persons dear to God as His own possession. (H.E. page 28)

Moral

To promote the education of the heart, without which no personality is complete nor is a person mature. This education presupposes: (i) the desire to think about others and make them happy, and (ii) the ability to enlarge the heart, the only power capable of creating things beautiful, grand, useful, and joyful. (H.E. page 28)

Physical

To develop and maintain a sound body by establishing good and healthy habits and attitudes, thus contributing to the physical and emotional growth of the student.

Intellectual

To develop intellectual faculties with special care and to form the ability to judge rightly. (Declaration on Christian Education, Art. 5)

Aesthetic

To create an understanding of truth, beauty, and goodness, and to foster appreciation for art, music, dance, drama, literature, and other creative expressions.

Cultural

To assimilate the culture of the country through its conservation, transmission, and renewal, while also appreciating the cultures of other regions and nations.

Social

To grow in awareness of others and their needs, to recognize one’s duties to society, to develop a sense of belongingness, to accept all people as brothers and sisters, and to work towards justice, peace, freedom, and the defense of feminine dignity.

Emotional

To foster self-awareness, emotional regulation, and mature growth through self-acceptance of one’s potentials and limitations.

The crowning glory of any educative process is to guide the student towards a conscious choice of his/her state in life, in harmony with divine inspiration and personal aspirations. Thus, our philosophy of education seeks to form students who are spiritually oriented, morally upright, socially responsible, and intellectually well-informed.
